PULSE MIAMI and the AD OASIS at ART BASEL

PULSE MIAMI was one of my favorite as it has a reputation as the leading US Art Fair dedicated solely to contemporary art. Pulse showcases a diverse group of established and emerging galleries. These galleries present a perfect blend of renowned and pioneering contemporary artists. Here are a few of my favs of the day. Evidently I was really into photography. After PULSE MIAMI by buddy Brian Delshad and I checked out the AD OASIS hosted by Architectural Digest and designed by Mark Cunningham.

Art Basel Miami 2012 preview and Vernissage

I attended the Preview and Vernissage events for Art Basel Miami 2012 with by buddy Brian Delshad. We had as much fun previewing art as we did previewing people like Martha Stewart, Vera Wang, and a dozens of g’zillionaires and their handlers and art consultants.  I keep thinking of an excerpt I read from Tom Wolfe’s new novel  Back to Blood  in Vanity Fair  entitled “The Running of the Billionaires”…about this very event.  Brian and I had fun and even capped off the evening at a fabulous party launch party hosted by Dior and feature a new film (to be a permanent installation at the store) by Bruce Weber  entitled, Can I Make the Music Fly? See. Style.com for more. Here are a few of my favorite works and favorite galleries.

Design Miami at Art Basel 2012

Design Miami is a “Global Forum for Design” . I attended the collectors preview event yesterday afternoon and had a chance to meet and talk with Asif Kahn who was awarded “Designer of the Future” by Design Miami / 2011. Mr. Kahn also designed the Coca-Cola Pavilion at the London 2012 Olympic Games. He told m it was the first time that Coca Cola allowed a designer to not use their brand logo. His design was a brilliant solution.

Art Deco Art Basel

My nifty Art Deco Hotel is cheap by our standards at $90 / night going up to $250 on weekend nights. It’s in the heart of the historic South Beach Art Deco District. Free happy hour drinks where you can commiserate with hip international hotel guests

about the fact that … THERE IS NO INTERNET! Cheap tho. Worth it?

The Whitelaw Hotel and Hostel…………..OMG! Hostel!! Gregg booked me in hostel! Times are really tough I guess. Well, that explains the internet situation. Bye… from Starbucks.

I’m Wanting a Christmas Tree

I was overwhelmed by the wafting smell of evergreen on 9th avenue in Chelesea tonight. I can thank the pop up christmas tree vendor who sleeps in his Santa Claus adorned trailer on 9th Avenue for my sudden compulsion to find a christmas tree suitable for our tiny Manahattan apartment. Damn those pop up vendors, do you think they spray everygreen scent on the street? About.com’s Buyers Guide for NYC Christmas Trees.
